A Plea

Here is the daily blogging gripe.  Maybe I should post my actual gripes daily, and then that sentence would actually ring truthful.  So, it's just a blogging gripe for today.

Where do all of these stay at home mothers find the time to bake and craft and do projects and blog about it?!  I am lucky if I get dressed and/or get the dishes done every day.  I know some of them have older kids, kids in school etc., but not all of them!  This goes out to the SAHM's who make it their mission to shame the rest of us SAHM's for not crafting, sewing, blogging, picture taking, baking, creating... being the perfect SAHM!!  Sometimes we'd like to, and sometimes we even have awesome ideas, but as hard as we might try...it never comes to fruition due to a plethora of reasons.
How do you get these things accomplished?  Do you not sleep?  Are your children chained to a chair watching cartoons?  Have they been given a slightly more than recommended dose of Benadryl?
Maybe, just maybe, do you think that one day you could blog about how you didn't get dressed at all, or realized you hadn't brushed your teeth at 3PM, or that for dinner you microwaved chicken nuggets for the kiddies and poured yourself a bowl of cereal?  Something? Anything?
The rest of us SAHM's would appreciate it!
Thanks.

(p.s., please note while there is sarcasm flowing within these sentences, there is also some truth to it all...like really, WHERE do you find the time!?!?)

I hear ya sister! Guess what we're having for dinner...root beer floats! Yes...give me the mom of the year award. (Don't tell Jared. I hope he doesn't see this.)

lol. Thats why blogging is so dumb! You only see the good! NO ONE has time to do it all! Especially these bloggers who put all their time into being so cool. haha. It makes me laugh. Just my kids birthday cakes put me over the edge. lol. I'm glad I am not the only one who forgets to brush my teeth. And I can only seem to get my hair washed every three days! kind gross...

One thing that sets you apart from most is you actually play with your kids! Seriously! Many are not getting on the floor and playing or letting their kids help out in the kitchen like you do. Their kids are parked in front of the TV or mom is too busy doing her crafty stuff or blogging to spend quality time with the kiddos. So, don't feel guilty! You are an amazing mom and your kids will always remember the one on one time they got to spend with their awesome mom. Enjoy every minute of it because they grow up WAY too fast.

And Mary...I already have won Mother of the Year for the next 50 or so years. Better luck next time:) Rootbeer floats for dinner? YUMMO! I hope to someday be an amazing mom like my nieces and nephews have.

It's all a facade. Same with Facebook. You only see what they want you to see. So don't feel any unrealistic pressure.

Um...EXCUSE ME, miss Martha Stewart cake decorator extraordinaire...!! 99% of the moms I know can't do that! Give yourself some credit. I can't answer for anyone else, but if I actually want to make some time for myself, doing something I enjoy, it requires me to totally ignore my kids and their million requests for attention. I have found that I can either be engaged with my kids, or do things I enjoy, but it is really hard for me to do both. (As I am typing this, Allie is in my face trying to get me to make something out of Bendaroos and what am I doing? Pretty much ignoring her.)And who cares if you don't serve gourmet meals every day. Chances are, the kids won't ever care or notice. I have just had to learn to forgive myself, and accept that I am not perfect, or anywhere close to it, and I just have to be ok with that. If you really are taking time to get down and play with your kids, kudos to you. That is one thing I have a really hard time with. Never compare yourself with others. You never know what the real story is. But I am with you, I sort of cringe when people take time to take pictures of meals they have made, or dinner parties they have thrown and then blog about them. I sort of makes me scratch my head, and I just ask myself, why?? You are doing a better job than you think- cut yourself some slack.

Mel!! Thanks for your comment on my facebook. I just wanted to check out the blog to see what you have been up to and I LOVED this post. I also loved what Krista said (you do SO SO MANY amazing things...but probably spend more time playing with your kiddos than posting). I feel the exact same way about so many SAHM's blogs- including yours! Miss you and so glad you are doing well :)

Thanks for this post! It made me laugh because I can totally relate to you on so many levels. I finally have the kids in bed and I am looking around at my disaster of a house and have no desire to clean it. Raising kids is exhausting!!! I wish there were more hours in the day to try the long list of things I've been wanting to try for a long time:)
